TOKYO, September 20, 2018 – Genesis Healthcare Co. – a pioneer in genetic testing and research in Japan – announced the appointment of Michael Goodman as its new Chief Security and Technology Officer (CSTO).
Michael’s career path spans every aspect of the information security lifecycle, from software development, systems engineering, incident response, vulnerability assessment, forensics, and threat intelligence to staffing, policy, processes, procedures, and management.
Michael has experience in leading enterprise cybersecurity efforts for numerous US federal agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Justice. He has experience in designing and enhancing various Security Operations Centers (SOCs) – for US Customs and Border Protection, US Secret Service, and the US Navy, to name a few.
Within the private sector, Michael has also worked to perform both security services and large scale systems engineering, working with such customers as Verizon, the Bank of New York Mellon, ABN AMRO, Rabobank, and ING.
Most recently, Michael served as Director of Information Security and Privacy under Wiley’s Atypon subsidiary, which houses almost half of the world’s most important academic published content. There he implemented next-generation cybersecurity frameworks to not only protect customer content and data but also to secure end-users’ privacy.
At Genesis Healthcare, Michael will be responsible for all aspects of information security, from systems engineering and vulnerability assessment to applications development.
“Ensuring the safety of the most sensitive data – personal health and genetic data – is the most critical point for our customers. Security is my core mandate, and I'll work diligently to achieve that, while facilitating the innovative research that Genesis Healthcare conducts to enable a healthier society,” commented Michael Goodman.
