Revealing new ancestral insights and connecting Asians together through relatives matching
Singapore, October 25th, 2023 – As part of its 20th anniversary and true to its mission of Celebrating Humanity, Genesis Healthcare is introducing GeneLife Haplo 3.0 to Singapore, connecting Asian communities together during these challenging times where the world needs stronger human bonding.
Following Japan, Singapore is the first market expansion where Haplo 3.0 is released, reflecting the multi-cultural essence of the country. This new ancestry service will be subsequently expanded across Asia as well as to other regions, such as North America in the future.
This service has been developed through 7 years of joint research with the National Institute of Genetics (NIG) in Japan, gathering Japanese and Asian genetic footprint or what is referred as haplogroups.
In addition to revealing ethnicity mix and migration paths of ancestors, GeneLife Haplo 3.0 introduces other unique features of the diversity of Asian ancestral heritage.
Two new core ancestry features included in GeneLife Haplo 3.0:
NEW - DNA RELATIVES MATCHING
A very popular feature in North America and in Europe, Genesis Healthcare has introduced a new feature allowing participants to identify potential relatives through estimation of shared DNA. This feature allows participants to connect and message potential relatives through the GeneLife mobile application.
NEW - PREHISTORICAL ANCESTRY
GeneLife Haplo 3.0 allows to identify potential shared DNA with the Neanderthal prehistorical people from ancient times. Genomic research applied to Neanderthals reveals higher levels of Neanderthal ancestry in East Asians than in Europeans, determining that the admixture rate into East Asians is ∼40% higher than in Europeans (*).
In addition, detection of potential shared DNA with Jōmon prehistorical people has been introduced. Through research about migration paths from maternal and paternal ancestors, some haplogroups have been associated with the Jōmon people, providing further insights about potential lineage within the Japanese population.
GeneLife Haplo 3.0 results are exclusively available through the GeneLife mobile application (iOS and Android) providing a unique interactive experience of displaying ancestry information.
GeneLife Haplo 3.0 will be available from the 25th of October 2023 at a retail price of SGD 199 on selected e-commerce channels in Singapore.
